RED LENTIL DOSA / CREPE
Red lentil or masoor dal dosa is a protein enriched dosa or crepe , easy to prepare . This recipe is from my twin sister Aarthy and we used to enjoy it with white chutney…… mmmyummm!! I used to prepare this soft dosa/ crepe in a very simple way, but if you like to add onions and temper it with mustard and split urad dal then you can proceed as you wish. No need for resting or fermenting, so this is a kind of ready to prepare dosa/ crepe and only thing you’ve to do is soaking the dal. I love the flavour. Herewith I’ve given you a slide show of the preparation.

⚜ Red lentil/ masoor dal – 1 cup
⚜Red chillies – 6 or 7
⚜ Coriander seeds – 1 tablespoon
⚜ Jeera and saunf -1/2 tablespoon each
⚜Black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
⚜Ginger – 1 inch piece
⚜Garlic – 4 pods
⚜ Curry leaves , a sprig
⚜ Hing or asafoetida -1/2 teaspoon
⚜Salt as required
– First soak the lentil for minimum 2 hours.
-In a blender / mixer add all the ingredients except curry leaves and grind into a fine paste. Now add the curry leaves and give it a pulse. Keep aside. If you want to temper it with mustard seeds and onions then do that now.
-Heat tawa or griddle on a medium flame and pour the batter and spread circularly in to a thin dosa or crepe . Pour some oil on top and after a while flip it to cook the other side.
-Serve hot with chutneys/ dips. White chutney prepared with coconut and green chillies is the best match for this.
